Giving Veterans a Voice
A Book in Progress
As an author, I have undertaken a very special project to give veterans a voice by sharing stories from every modern-day military conflict, which means going right to the source. A book is in progress that will be a compilation of verifiable accounts shared firsthand by men and women that serve or have served our country. The majority of the proceeds from the book will go to the American Red Cross Services to Armed Forces (SAF) with whom I am affiliated as a SAF volunteer.
I am looking for veterans with a story to tell, veterans with a desire to open people's minds
to what it really means to be willing to give life and limb for country even if you were not wounded.
These written accounts will be recorded by an experienced writer/editor—a non-uniformed citizen from the Vietnam era that cares about giving veterans a voice. I proudly come from a family representing several branches of the U.S. military. The focus of the book is to help readers understand the intricacies of conflict and the realities of war without whitewashing actual accounts. Stories about pre and post deployments will also be included.
Each story told will provide a perspective different from that which is shared amongst buddies that have served together. A journey into contemporary media—citizen's media—asks veterans to open up outside an established comfort zone to help us all understand the heroes among us. I have spent hours listening to stories that have never been shared publicly until now and those stories are destined to affect the mindset of all Americans.
Readers will journey with veterans sharing stories that will keep everyone on the edge of the seat, some can be heart-wrenching; others infused with irony and humor.
This will be a must-read for those on both sides of going to war,
proponents and opponents alike.
This will be a tribute to the brave men and women
that fight for our freedom every day.
This will be in memory of those lost in the name of freedom.
